I attended WV Wesleyan College where I received a BA in Christian Education (2008). During my college years, I spent summers in Zambia, Africa serving with long term missionaries there. After two years of seminary, I was lucky enough to convince my wife to marry me in 2010. In the same year, I began serving as a student ministry director with a young church plant in West Virginia for four years before relocating to the Columbia, SC area where I joined Young Life Staff serving in Irmo, Dutch Fork, and Spring Hill High Schools. Together with my wife and our daughter, we moved to Malawi, Africa in January 2019 and served with Young Life as missionaries for nearly seven years. My wife is an Emergency Medicine physician who worked in the government hospital system and within Malawi’s College of Medicine. Our little Brady Bunch returned to Columbia in 2025 where we now reside with our dog, and three children ages 10, 6, and 3. I have a passion for working with children and teens and had nearly 20 years of youth ministry experience under my belt before beginning my professional counselor training in 2022 with the Townsend Institute of Concordia University in Irvine, California where I have been trained in a wide variety of counseling modalities. I earned my undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Arizona, where I studied Psychology and Communication. My passion for social work is rooted in the belief that meaningful change begins by meeting people where they are, walking alongside them emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as they navigate life’s challenges and move toward healing. Outside of my academic and clinical work, I am a proud Army wife of fourteen years and a mother of four, which means life in my home is rarely quiet and never dull. Walking through military life alongside my husband, including multiple deployments, has shaped my perspective in profound ways. These experiences have strengthened my resilience, deepened my faith, and fueled my passion for supporting families, women, and children who are navigating their own seasons of uncertainty and growth. My heart is especially drawn to helping children and women develop emotional and spiritual strength. I believe many of the challenges individuals face later in life often have roots in childhood. Because of this, I am passionate about helping young people develop healthy coping skills early on, learn to process emotions, face adversity, and recognize their inherent worth. When children build these foundations early, it creates lasting strength that can carry them through life. I am also deeply committed to encouraging women to recognize the strength already placed within them. Scripture provides powerful examples through women such as Esther, Ruth, and Deborah, who demonstrated courage, wisdom, and unwavering faith even during difficult seasons. Their stories remind me that strength is not always loud or visible, but it is always present when rooted in faith and perseverance. In addition to my clinical counseling internship, I also serve at a healthcare center whose mission is to provide accessible and compassionate care in the spirit of the Good Samaritan. The story in Luke 10:30–37 reminds us that compassion often begins with the simple act of stopping to care for someone in need. While my work is grounded in faith and compassion, I also believe laughter is good for the soul.
